Mary L. Aminde is a young energetic and dynamic lady who has the passion to give back to her community as a mentor especially in kids’ skill development and empowering the girl child in technology and consultancy in technology. Her sole purpose is to bring out the best in others (children as priority) while she works on herself too.
She was born in 1994 in Limbe. She attended Parents’ National Educational Union (PNEU) Limbe till 2006 and continued with secondary education at Regina Pacis Higher Technical/Commercial College (REPACOL), where she had her GCE Ordinary Level in 2012 and Advanced Level in 2014.
She studied Software Engineering at the Catholic University Institute of Buea and graduated in 2018 as a Software Engineer, BSc in Software Engineering with first class honors.
During her degree program, she volunteered as a facilitator during the CUIB kids’ holiday program in 2016 where she learnt and demonstrated her ability to pay attention to the needs of children and taught them basic rhymes and songs.
She also volunteered as mentor and team lead of mentors in technology for CUIB kids STEM Mentorship Program, where the kids were taught proper typing ethics with the use of Marvis Beacon and how to develop basic games with the use of Scratch software for kids.
Throughout her last 2 years at the university, she demonstrated her skills in mobile development, web development, artificial intelligence and data analysis while gracing the opportunity to actively participate in hackathons and work on freelance projects with startups and NGOs and she has kept going till today.
Since September 2018, she has been a volunteer faculty at the CUIB Growth Mindset Entrepreneurial High School (STEAM Academy) teaching Computer Science and ICT, she is also the coordinator for UTILEARNING where she oversees Google classroom activities and conducts trainings on its use and she is interim Web Master for the institution.
